Hey everyone,

As we gradually improve our current prototype, we've spent some time upgrading the visuals.

Almost every building has been reworked, receiving a more detailed look with added animations and visual effects. While it’s still a work-in-progress, and the look of the game will likely evolve throughout development, we're finally happy with the overall direction. Here are some of the new buildings.

Another big change has occurred on the gameplay front. At first glance, it might not seem like much, but in reality, it drastically changes the dynamics of the game. Now, instead of playing an entire hand to get new biome cards, each time you play a card, you receive a new one. This creates more interesting options and combinations that can play out in a single moment.

We’ve also added the option to discard cards for double their price. It’s a bit punishing, and we’re already considering changes that could provide more positive reinforcement and help players see the cards as a valuable resource.

The second big design decision we've made and just started to implement is the introduction of Ability cards. These are divine powers and lost artifacts that can be found and used during a run. There are still some uncertainties, and the Ability cards will likely go through a few iterations before we find the right option that complements the rest of the gameplay.

Currently, the Ability cards are part of the biome deck and can be used from the same interface. There are pros and cons to this approach, but the current implementation is primarily for testing purposes. In the next iteration, we plan to separate these decks and evaluate how they perform.

The next two major areas of focus will be enemy AI, mission objectives, and a UI overhaul. At the moment, the AI is very basic and doesn’t pose any meaningful threat once you get the hang of the game. Additionally, there is only a single objective: destroying the enemy base. While that’s fine on its own, we want to create more interesting scenarios that can be flexible and customizable.

That's all for now. If you like what we're doing wish list and follow the game to help our little community grow.

Have a great day,

Flox
